For this personal project I was working with taking a sketch, cleaning it up and then taking it into Illustrator and creating a vector artwork.
I took the drawing into Photoshop first and cleaned up the image. I used levels to adjust the white and black balance. I then took the image into Illustrator and created an image trace. Working with the image trace, I used the six color setting and created a limited color palette. I also added the feet and finished the hand.
I then took the line work and went over the shapes to create more accurate lines. After that I used the recolor artwork tool to play with the color scheme of the piece. I liked the high contrast of having the blue behind the pink. I also worked with the opacity of the shapes.
Finally, I added a background color and my signature as well as a few touchups. Creating a mockup of the greeting card was the final step.
